Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. The couple was moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five years old and attended an academy called the Dragon School. Emma decided to be an actor by the age of six. Over the course of several years, she attended the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing as well as dancing, and also acting. By the time she turned 10, Emma had taken part in numerous Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The film adaptation to J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was first cast for the first time at the beginning of 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford drama teacher. After eight auditions consistently, director David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been selected as the three leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It also was one of the top-rated films in 2001. The opening weekend and day the sales were record breaking. Reviewers were awed by the movie and its performances. The widely distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma received the Young Artist Award as the most outstanding young actor in a Feature Film. She was later recognized five times in recognition of her role in the movie.
